Zeba 2011 - Thursday July 21

Monday and Tuesday --

The amazing experiences come one after the other here on the Zeba trip, and it is now easy to see why this rite of passage is a cornerstone of the youth program here at FUMCA2.

Today our youth absolutely shined while putting on the vacation bible camp for the children of the Zeba reservation, and surrounding area. Teamwork, energy, and Agape were on display everywhere as our kids played, sang with, taught, entertained and helped the 60 plus kids that showed up to learn about and praise the creator. Each child who came was paired up with an Ann Arbor “buddy” and it was truly a blessing to see these “goofy” Jr. high schoolers show the budding signs of maturity, responsibility, and service.

It is going to be a God filled week.

After camp, our activity was a trek down into a once working copper mine. The tours were authentic and fun (led by students studying at Michigan Tech). They had the perfect balance of information, excitement, and a little bit of fear! The kids had a blast. After the tour it was time for a quick cool down swim in Lake Superior and back to camp for reflections and small groups. Everything is running so smoothly that we are able to maximize every minute, and that is really a testament to Wendy Everett and the dedicated adult counselors who have made room in their schedules to be here and help our youth grow.

If you have a child on this trip, you should be very proud. EVERYONE is doing their part early on, and many of them are blossoming right before our eyes.
